ALEXANDER POULOS practices primarily in the areas of Marital and Domestic Relations and Criminal Investigations, Litigation and Defense. His family law practice focuses on divorce, child custody and legal decision making, parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, domestic disputes, orders of protection, juvenile dependency actions and other issues related to families and people living together.
Alex’s years prosecuting crimes, particularly Homicides, gave him an acute understanding of the human condition and the damage to spouses, family members, significant others, and children that can occur from family and domestic disputes. He understands issues that ignite domestic disputes and focuses on resolving them effectively to achieve a fair resolution for his clients.
His criminal practice includes representation of persons under government investigation or persons who are charged in criminal proceedings involving white collar crime, sex offenses, DUIs and other felonies and misdemeanors. Alex’ experience as a prosecutor gives him an important dual perspective in approaching his client’s cases as their defense counsel.
There are times when settlement fails and litigation proves necessary. Alex is an experienced trial attorney. He has tried hundreds of jury and bench trials and has been appointed to serve as a Judge Pro Tem of the Maricopa County Superior Court. Alex was lead counsel for the prevailing party in a reported Arizona Appellate Court Case, which interpreted the issue of the award of attorney’s fees in protective order proceedings. His cases have been featured on the national television programs America's Most Wanted and Arrest & Trial and he has served as a legal consultant on Fox Channel 10 News.
As a football player, he was All-State at Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona and All-American at Georgetown University.
Before law school, Alex served in Washington, D.C. as a Foreign Affairs Assistant to Senator DeConcini and later to then Congressman John McCain.
Upon graduating from law school, Alex served as an Organized Crime and Homicide prosecutor for the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. He later went into private practice to continue serving in the field of criminal law, but also to practice family law.
